Premarital Counseling

Welcome! All kinds of couples can benefit from premarital counseling:

  • Considering engagement or cohabitation
  • Engaged, about to be married or have a commitment ceremony
  • Just got married, or just committed to being life partners
  • Marrying for the first time, or been married before

Premarital counseling has 4 specific goals:

  1. Meet your goals
Every person who comes to premarital counseling has a different idea of what it will be like and what they want out of it. I will listen to what you really want to get out of counseling and make it happen.

  2. Get a map
Develop an overall "map" of what encompasses an intimate relationship between two people. Getting the lay of the land will help orient you, identify important areas, and will mean you aren't surprised later.

  3. Learn about yourself and your partner.
In learning about the overall aspects of a relationship, you will also learn what is most important to yourself and to your partner. You will discover strengths as well as areas for improvement or caution. You will also learn about patterns of interaction you already have.

  4. Have fun!
This is an exciting time for you as a couple! While doing some serious work, we will also have fun and play.

I offer premarital counseling on a per session basis or in discounted packages of 4 sessions.
