Couples Counseling

Most couples can recall a time when they have felt close, in tune and connected with their partners. They feel cherished, loved, warm, safe.

Most couples can also recall a time when they have felt disconnected from their partners. They may feel isolated, frustrated, angry, scared, or alone.

It is natural to have periods of waxing and waning, and feel closer at times and more distant at times over the course of any relationship.

Sometimes, however, the negative interactions build up and couples can become stuck. When this happens, couples often do not understand what changed, why it isn't working anymore, or what to do to get those good feelings back. They may wonder if they can ever get them back with their partner.

Couples therapy can help couples become unstuck and reconnect with their partners.

Common issues addressed in therapy:

  • Lack of intimacy/lack of closeness
  • Problems with sex
  • Affairs
  • Problems with money
  • Parenting
  • Growing apart
  • Loneliness
  • Household chores

Therapy helps couples:

  • Identify where they are stuck.
  • Understand their patterns of interaction and how the patterns contribute to the problems in their relationship.
  • Explore the meaning and emotions underlying the patterns.
  • Resolve anger, pain and fear.
  • Create understanding and connection.

I will listen to you both and support you both equally. You each have unique and often very different perspectives on your problems. I want to understand what it is like for each of you.

During therapy, you can increase your connectedness with your partner and regain a healthy balance. Together, we work on the very essence of your relationship as we strengthen and repair your bond as a couple.

I work with all kinds of couples, strongly believe that all relationships can improve, and therapy can help.
